As a vendor, am I required for pay sales tax for my sales during the Farmer's Market? |
Yes.
We have simplified this process for the vendors at the Farmer's Market. Since most of the vendors do not have an EIN set up with the state, we have acquired an EIN for the Farmer's Market, and have established a system where the vendors can keep track of their sales and turn in 15% of their daily sales to the coordinator at the end of the selling period. Then the coordinator will pay the required taxes as a lump sum to the state, paying the vendor's taxes in one payment.
Currently, the state requires 9.5% of total sales paid for taxes. The remaining 5.5% goes to the Farmer's Market for processing and to financially support the Farmer's Market.
Businesses who do have an EIN with the state can handle their own tax payment if they wish. They will simply state on their sales report that they be responsible for paying their own taxes. |
What are the operating dates for the Farmer's Market? |
The expected operating dates are every Saturday from the beginning of June to the end of September.
If we need to deviate from that schedule at any point, it will be changed on the calendar page of this website, and the vendors will be notified so they aren't showing up when they don't need to.
There are also special events which take place throughout the year: meals, seed swaps, fundraising, board meetings, and training classes. These events will be posted on the calendar page. |
Is there a stall fee, or participation fee for being a part of the Farmer's Market? |
We do charge a 5.5% Farmers Market fee on your sales through the Farmers Market. But do not charge a participation or booth fee.
If you are planning on running a food truck during the Farmer's Market, we do ask for a $15 fee, but there is no fee for setting up a table and taking part of the Farmer's Market. |
When are board meetings held, and is the public invited? |
Generally we expect to hold board meetings once a month, on the first Wednesday, @ 8:30, at the library.
During the off-season we may skip some of these meetings if there isn't pressing matters to discuss.
When we are going to have a meeting, it will be posted on the calendar page of this website, probably a month in advance.
The public is welcome to attend the board meetings, and will have a chance to speak during the 'public comment' portion of the meeting.
If we ever feel that we need a meeting without the public, for whatever reason, we will just simply not put it on the calendar. |
I am a vendor who wants to sell at the Farmer's Market, what do I need to do? |
We are excited to have you be a part of the Farmer's Market, sell your wares, and participate in a rewarding community event.
There are some 'T's to cross, and some 'I's to dot, and we have put that info on the Legal & Minutes page.
The Vendor Agreement form can be filled out and submitted online. The Coordinator will process your information and get in touch with you. There are also other informational resources on the Legal & Minutes page which you should go through since they contain valuable information which may help you. |
